Detour planned around I-10 at Lake Charles in Louisiana

10/02/2011 - 9:24:49 pm
Here’s a heads up for truckers who run I-10 through Louisiana. Traffic will soon be using the I-210 loop as a detour until work is completed on the Calcasieu River Bridge at Lake Charles sometime in 2012. The detour begins Oct. 4.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development plans to keep heavy vehicles off the bridge until spring. The department plans to maintain one through lane and one local lane open for passenger vehicles during the project.

Workers are repairing and resealing joints, removing rust and replacing damaged rivets on the bridge.

For more information or to receive email updates about the project, call 877-452-3683.
