10/7/2011 Teletrac Wins FMCSA Contract for Cross-Border Long-Haul Trucking Program The Department of Transportation has selected Teletrac to provide fleet tracking and Hours of Service software to FMCSA for its United States - Mexico cross-border, long-haul trucking pilot program. As indicated in the FMCSA Federal Register Notice, all Mexican carrier trucks designated for inclusion in the program will be equipped with a GPS and HOS services electronic monitoring device. The company's Fleet Director GPS system is fully compliant with current FMCSA regulations for vehicle and driver monitoring. "Teletrac has a proven track record of delivering advanced telematics solutions that give carriers powerful control over fleet operations to improve safety, control costs, mitigate risks and ensure compliance," stated Drew Hamilton, executive vice president, Teletrac. "We are extremely pleased that officials of FMCSA have chosen to partner with us and are confident that our solution set, expert resources that can deliver training in Spanish, plus headquarters in California and large operations in Texas, will play a vital role in supporting FMCSA." Through the use of its geo-fencing technology that provides vehicle location data relative to specified geographic landmarks, Teletrac will track trucks participating in the pilot along designated routes and within pre-defined boundaries, to monitor driver adherence to program parameters and safety standards. Further, this technology enables automated status updates to back office systems, providing validated, time-stamped records of vehicle activity. |
