ports using natural gas trucks for goods movement - Source Clean Energy

A case in point: ports using natural gas trucks for goods movement
Fast-growing import/export container traffic greatly benefits the U.S. economy. The downside stems from the diesel exhaust generated by port trucks — dangerous emissions that contribute to global warming and impact public health.

In Southern California, about 25% of diesel
pollution results from goods movement activity at the mammoth Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Projections call for container traffic to more than double by 2020. The Ports already handle 40% of all U.S. container traffic. To address the problem, the Ports now require the replacement of up to 16,800 diesel trucks with one-half fueled by clean-burning natural gas. Clean Energy is building the fueling stations to serve these trucks.

Clean Energy is North America’s leading provider of CNG and LNG vehicle fuel.
